About Our Founder
“It began with what I believe is a call, grew into a burning challenge, and eventually brought about change that has impacted the destiny of thousands of children.”
Larry Kapchinsky is a devoted father and grandfather with a deep passion for helping disadvantaged children both in the United States and around the world.
A graduate of Southern California College in Costa Mesa, Larry began his teaching career in Bakersfield, California, in 1968. It was there that he first felt called to make a difference. One winter, a young girl in his class arrived at school wearing only a thin, sleeveless dress and sandals. Moved by her situation, Larry and his wife, Janice, stepped in. When social services intervened and removed the girl from her home, they opened their hearts and their home, becoming foster parents to both her and her sister.
