Sifa Alphonse joined KidCare/Shalom in 2007 when she was 5 years old. After the death of both parents, she was taken by her Aunt from the village to live in Arusha, but her Aunt couldn’t take care of her. KidCare/Shalom staff met Sifa in the street begging and brought her to the Shalom Centre.
- Shalom Centre enrolled her in nursery school and then in primary for 7 years, and she joined the
secondary school for 4 years, where she was the best in the class, making the government select
her to join the advanced level secondary school for 2 years. Sifa was selected by the government to join Army training for 3 months before joining Clinical Medicine training for 3 years. She was then taken to the Tanzania prisons department to be trained as a prison officer and the prison`s MedicalDoctor.
In her own words, Dr. Sifa Testmony
I would like to thank Kidcare International for their unwavering support for the children of KidCare/Shalom center. I, Sifa Alphonce wouldn’t be where I am right now if it was not the heart of support from Kidcare International. I had a dream of becoming a doctor since my childhood, but when I finished my Advanced level of secondary education (after doing well in the national advanced level secondary school examination, I was selected by the government to pursue a Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resource Management … but because my passion was to be a medical doctor, I opted for a Diploma course in clinical medicine).
I managed to pursue her dream of becoming a doctor and enrolled in a private college. It was so expensive to send the children to a private college here in our country, so through Kidcare International and Pastor Larry’s support, my dream was fulfilled. While in College, I was the best student in the class and managed to graduate with a Diploma in Clinical Medicine in 2022 – 2023.I was selected by the Government to join a Prison officer training course and employed by the government as a Prison Medical doctor at the prison Hospital. I am happy and proud to work at a government institution.
I extend my gratitude to Pastor Larry and the KidCare International team, and I want to encourage you that through your generous support, the lives of many youths and Children of Shalom Center are being transformed for the better!
